REMARKS:

'Serengeti' was designed by the famous A Mylne & Co and built to Lloyds 100-A1 standard by the Bute Shipyard, Scotland in 1970 and is possibly the best wooden yacht of its type built in Europe. The construction is solid teak, 1½" below waterline, 1¼" mahogany from waterline up. Massive Iroko keelson and oak frames on 12" and 15" centres. This superior construction guarantees, with proper maintenance, that 'Serengeti' will outlive us all. This yacht has made numerous Atlantic crossings (including her maiden voyage). She was designed and built for a Tate & Lyle Director, regardless of cost, for his personal use and also for use as a luxury charter vessel. She was very well known and extremely successful as a charter yacht in the Caribbean.

'Serengeti' underwent a major refit in 1990 costing in excess of $250,000. A further extensive refit has just been completed, bringing this beautiful classic up to a modern specification, ready for the 2007/08 season and beyond.

'Serengeti' has a colourful history – she has entertained celebrities, been featured on the cover of 'Yachting Magazine' and has appeared in films, as well as the famous TV series 'Sea Hunt' starring Lloyd Bridges.
